We haven’t been everywhere by any means at all. But we have seen a lot of corners of the world. Here is a list of our favorite elopement locations in the world!
Your elopement is a precious thing. When Alex and I decided to take on elopement photography, we discovered a whole new world of adventurous possibilities. While weddings have their place in our hearts, there’s no feeling like waking up in the middle of the night to hike up to a beautiful mountain pass for a sunrise elopement. Or trekking to a waterfall for sunset. There’s no feeling that matches reading your eternal vows to each other on a black sand beach in Iceland, or a boat on off the coast of Greece, or even in the back yard of a beautiful Airbnb in the middle of the woods. Whether you’re looking for an epic, adventurous elopement, or a peaceful, romantic one; the world is literally our oyster. And it’s here for us to explore! No matter where you go, or what you do, eloping carries it’s own magic.
Loveland Pass, Colorado
Loveland Pass is a mountain pass about 30 minutes from Breckenridge, Colorado. It is 11,000 feet up, literally 360 degree mountain views, green in the summer and covered in snow for the winter, making for a beautiful, epic and versatile spot for an epic elopement. Book a romantic cabin in Breckenridge, have the ceremony at Loveland and then a romantic dinner at any one of the delicious fine dining restaurants in town.
Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
Rocky Mountain National Park is my all time favorite National Park (that I’ve visited so far of course) It’s variety of views, mountain ranges, lakes, and wildlife makes for quite an adventurous place for an elopement or even a tiny wedding. Drive up to Trail Ridge Road, the highest road in the continental United States, or gear up for a hike to Dream or Emerald Lake, one of the parks gorgeous alpine lakes.
Moab Desert, Utah
We love Moab. We remember driving through from Colorado and watching the landscape drastically change. It was peaceful, epic and so romantic. Elope under the Corona arch at sunset, or drive out to Dead Horse Point at sunrise.
Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
Grand Teton is definitely home to one of the most unique mountain ranges we have ever seen. Like any national park you need a permit to elope there but there is no shortage of AMAZING places to exchange your vows and adventure among the mountains.
Cape Kiwanda (Oregon Coast)
I cannot say enough about cape Kiwanda. If you’re wanting a beautiful coastal wedding, this is the place to do it. Get married on the beach with the haystack rock and cliffs towering over you, and then hike up to the top of the cliffs for breathtaking portraits. Finish off the night with a beer and dinner at Pelican Brewing on the beach.
Lauterbrunnen is home to Rivendell, in Lord of the Rings. Full of waterfalls, surrounded by mountains and the most epic, romantic hikes in the world. There is no shortage of places to have an adventurous elopement in this magical place, and also no shortage of amazing fondue and chocolate for post elopement dinner.
Lokrum Island, Croatia
I didn’t think I’d love Croatia as much as I did. Alex insisted on going there because it was the filming location for GOT and also, because it looked like an undiscovered Greece. We fell IN LOVE. It’s romantic, historical, and so stinkin beautiful. Plants hang from every terrace, and the water is the bluest I’ve ever seen. The coolest thing about Croatia is that there is no shortage of adventuring opportunities. You can rent a boat and elope out in the Adriatic sea with champagne and the bluest water you’ll ever see. Or take a ferry out to Lokrum Island and trek up to one of the many cliffs, all of which are epic, adventurous, elopement locations. After your nuptials return to the mainland for some of the best seafood you’ll ever eat.
Whether you want the patriotic camaraderie of the locals in Dublin, or the peaceful, tranquility of the coastline, there’s really nowhere you can go wrong eloping in Ireland. For the natural beauties exchange vows at the Cliffs of Moher, one of the world’s most popular and beautiful elopement locations! Or the Giant’s Causeway, where cliffs and basalt columns are other-worldly. Or a chapel in Dublin for the perfect Ireland elopement location and then bar hop to celebrate!
La Push Beach, Wasington
Yes, we know it’s famous for its debut on the Twilight Series, but we don’t care. La Push beach is so cool. If you are wanting something coastal, but more secluded than Cape Kiwanda, go to any of the beaches at La Push for one of the most perfect elopement locations. Cliffs tower over you, haystack rocks are settled into the ocean, and the sound of the Roaring Pacific Ocean is the perfect background noise.
Mount Rainier National Park, Washington
Settled into gorgeous Washington state is Mount Rainier, a huge white-capped, active volcano. She only makes her appearance on clear days, which can be tricky in the rainiest state in the country. But she doesn’t have to be out to enjoy the epic-ness of this national park, or for it to be an amazing elopement location! Hikes take you from grassy plains to white stone, to alpine lakes. It’s the perfect place for an awesome adventure elopement for the daring couple.
Bell Mountain, North Georgia
Bell mountain is located in North Georgia area, close to Hiawassee. It is famous for being covered in decades old graffiti. You drive up a windy mountain road to reach a parking lot, then do a small climb up to the top of Graffiti for breathtaking views. It is a perfect combination of peaceful and adventurous, and one of my top elopement locations!
